Getting Started

Dr. Peter C. GormanWelcome to the CMS Data Dashboard site. All of us at Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools want our district to be open and transparent to our parents, our students and the community at large – and this new site is part of that effort.

By clicking on the links on this site, you can access a wealth of data about your school, your learning community, and the district as a whole. If this is your first visit, we suggest you look at the District Data Dashboard first. This is a Web page created at the request of our Board of Education to help make CMS accessible to the many publics that we serve. It will give you “CMS at a Glance,” and we think it’s a good place to start as you navigate this site. 

You can also look in depth at a particular school, at state and federal test scores and at demographic and academic information. What percentage of CMS buses are on time? How well is your child's school doing compared to CMS's goal? Are there enough teachers employed at CMS to fill every school? Did the CMS budget receive a favorable audit this year? The Data Dashboard, and this site, can help you learn the answers to these and many other questions.  

We hope you’ll make this a regular stop when you’re on the Internet, because we believe that our schools benefit from the interest and the involvement of the community. Increasing academic achievement is our top priority as a school district. CMS is working to educate every child well, and this site is intended to provide a comprehensive, customized assessment of our progress toward that goal.

 The Latest Data

2009-2010 School Year Data

Data from the 2009-2010 school year is now available. To see progress reports, improvement plans and survey data, click on the Schools tab.

Some academic measures do not have trend data. The reason for this is that North Carolina changed the standards by increasing the rigor of the state tests. The old tests and the new tests measure different things, so year-over-year comparisons are not valid for math EOG and reading EOG tests.

These tests show significant growth in achievement in many areas for our students. We will continue to focus on increasing student learning in CMS.
